How To Make Your Own Toothpaste
Ingredients
Half cup of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
1 teaspoon of fine Himalayan pink salt (optional)
10-15 drops of peppermint essential oil (or a flavour of your choice – spearmint, orange, myrrh, lemongrass)
Filtered water
NB : Although the salt is optional, it adds to the overall efficiency of the toothpaste.
Mix salt and baking soda together.
Add peppermint essential oil and mix
Add water a little at a time and stir in until the mixture resembles a thick gloopy paste, of a consistency that will stay on your toothbrush.
THATS IT!!!
It takes around 5 minutes to make and this “batch” cost around £1 to make, and should last a good few weeks, if kept in an air tight container. The most expensive ingredient is the essential oil, which cost £5 for a small bottle, but as you only use a very small amount the bottle should last 10 – 20 batches (around 18 months to 2 years !!)
Here is a video that shows, how it was done, and the results :
And here are my before and after first application photos – can you see a difference ? If so, why not try it yourself ? I shall be back in 7 days to post another photograph of my teeth after a week of brushing them twice a day

This looks great and so simple. Where can I get the ingredients from?

They can be brought from your local superstore Huw, or for good quality essential oil, visit your local health food store. I would also recommend the Dental Health blog http://organicguineapig.com/dental-health/
